Abstract: I will give an exposition of the constructions Lai-Sang Young presented in her paper "Some open subsets of nonuniformly hyperbolic cocycles". These are continuously differentiable cocycles over expanding maps acting on the circle taking values in 2 by 2 matrices of determinant 1. A similar construction works when expanding maps are replaced with toral automorphisms acting on the 2-torus but I'll focus on the non-invertible case.
